It’s always the way, the chill of winter arrives and we’re already looking forward to summer again. You’re left dreaming about the warm kiss of the sun on the beach, but there’s only one problem in your fantasy: your varicose veins.
Winter means legging, jeans and pants which makes it the perfect time for varicose vein removal at the Varicose Vein Clinic. Due to the nature of the vein treatment you’ll be required to wear a compression stocking during aftercare. In summer this compression stocking can make you uncomfortable due to heat and the last thing you would want to do is cover it up with another layer of clothing. Most people are simply more comfortable covering their compression stocking for confidence reasons which makes winter the opportune time for this procedure.
There are three different types of varicose vein treatments which you can discuss with your doctor, they include:
These three treatments are the most innovative and trusted procedures available for the treatment of varicose veins. Each option has its own benefits and Dr. Davis will discuss which option is right for you during your consultation at the Varicose Vein Clinic in Robina.
Endovenous Laser Ablation or ELA is the most recent innovation in the treatment of varicose veins. The procedure involves a small laser fibre being inserted into the incompetent vein. This fibre will then be withdrawn as the laser is activated, stimulating the vein to react to the fibre and close. This reaction is referred to as thermal ablation and will eventually result in the body naturally absorbing the closed vein. This means that the vein will no longer be visible from the outside of your body and your skin will appear smooth and vein-free.
Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy – or UGS is a modern tweak on the traditional treatment of varicose veins. Utilising ultrasound technology your doctor will actively seek varicose veins in your targeted area. This method allows a much higher degree of accuracy and shortens the procedure time as the veins are found simply and quickly. Once the veins are located Dr. Davis will be able to inject a sclerosing solution with pin point accuracy and force the veins to close and recede into the body. If you have recurring varicose veins then this is the perfect treatment for you as it targets the underlying veins which cause the appearance of unattractive surface veins.
Traditional sclerotherapy involves the injection of a sclerosing solution which causes the walls of the veins to stick together and collapse. This damaged vein will then be accepted by tissue in the body, eliminating it from view.
In order to ensure the most optimum results of your vein treatment we firmly recommend two general after-care procedures as well as any treatments recommended by your doctor:
Wearing a compression stocking post treatment ensures the best results of your treatment. You should wear your stocking for 5-14 days as it will reduce the bruising and assist in the healing process.
Before proceeding you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practiotioner.
