ELA is an effective laser treatment for varicose veins and a great alternative to traditional invasive surgical vein stripping. Endovenous Laser Ablation (ELA) treats large veins using laser light to seal the incompetent underlying veins.
Endovenous Laser Ablation enables you to achieve the maximum results with minimal discomfort, pain or bruising. Post-operative complications are rare and the success rate of treatment is almost 100%
ELA at The Varicose Vein Clinic is performed under local anaesthetic. Contrary to the practice of some other clinics, ELA is designed to be performed under local anaesthetic as it is a minimally invasive procedure and being up and about quickly after the procedure further reduces the extremely small chance of blood clots. There is no need for hospitalization.
After ELA, your leg will be placed into a compression stocking and you will need to walk almost immediately. Routine activity can be resumed that day and athletic or strenuous activities a short time later.
We will advise that you will need to walk for a minimum of 30 minutes per day for two weeks post-treatment and should avoid lifting heavy weights or high impact activities during this time.
Before proceeding you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practiotioner.
